Otto's list is getting so big that we needed to split off the comments.

This way he can continue to modify and add to the list as needed.

If you have any suggestions or comments, please post them here.

Thanks!!!

Otto,

Vendor source suggested by Ted in Olympia, here's a link directly to the company with phone, address, email, FAQ, etc.
Looks like they offer stainless steel brake & clutch hoses for lots of vehicles, not just Eldos.
Also will make custom rubber OR stainless steel hoses per your requirements.

I've bought many things from Falcon Global on Ebay.  Never any problems.  Parts look good.

"EZ"

Edit = fixed quote    CF

I have to agree with 'caddydaddy59' & 'EZ' on  buying from Falcon Global on Ebay !!!
I just bought a set of lifters for my 1954 Caddy from them ...
It was a HORRIBLE job to replace the lifters, but it solved my problem ...  Smiley
I found them easy to talk to with their 800 number, and the guy I spoke with certainly seemed to know his business ...
The lifters looked Great, they FIT,  and it sure made the purchase easy ... since I was ordering from Canada ...
I plan on ordering a few more parts from them, and will check them out for any of my future needs ...

I really like the idea of having a vendor list to refer to ... I just hope that as well as expressing how happy we are with certain vendors, there is the opportunity to warn others if we've had bad experiences with some of them !!!!

This would be useful for those who own Commerical Chassis:     http://www.american-nameplate.com/

Can anyone recommend someone to restore the tag on the firewall that has the manufacturer name and vehicle information on it?

I have had great luck using a company located here in Chicago. Their name is American Nameplate Company. They don't do restoration of name tags but can probably make you a brand new one just like your original. You don't include a photo here so I'm making assumptions.
They have many different processes and have done nice work for me. The owners name is Mark and they have been at it for many years.
The one thing they WILL NOT do is stamp vin numbers. Many were hand stamped and still can be by you!

CF,

Notice in the example photo of the nameplates you posted, the repro on the right uses different font in certain areas. The original  "Step-N-Drive" is san serif. The repro uses a traditional type-writer style font with serifs. Same with the words, "Detroit, Mich. USA."

The ordering instructions on the original are thinner, more vertical letters whereas the repro is wider and bolder.

What self respecting milk truck driver would put up with that?  Wink

Won't affect operating performance.   And likely the judges @ Hershey will never notice.

Not if they're anything like the CLC judges they won't.

Good thing this isn't the Mobo - - over the past several posts, I can count at least 4 items that would violate their 'rules'.   Cheesy

How are they to see it in the judging garage.

I don't know what you are talking about?!?!   That garage was very bright and detail was easily discerned.
