I found one at Oreilley's Auto Parts just about 3 weeks ago here in Chattanooga for a guy in California. I bought it and shipped it to him.
I called the local store and the guy called the warehouse for me. He said they had one and I bought it. It arrived 3 days later. Cost $39.95.
They are out there, you just have to look. Check the websites. Have the local stores call the warehouse. WWW.kanter.com has one in stock but they want $100 for it. Before I spent $100 I'd buy the 2 outlet pump and either block the extra port with a rubber cap or I'd put the hose on it and just dump it into the other heater hose with a "T". No big deal.

From what I've found out the problem is nobody is turning their old pumps in for a core so there are none to be built.

Thanks EZ.... They now just cut it down to 3 weeks so hopefully it will be back soon. It was not leaking but a fresh rebuild with brand new almost everything deserves a new water pump.

I'm the same way. I'm also rebuilding my 429 in my '66 Coupe DeVille. I wouldn't dream of slapping an old water pump
back on the engine. I've bought new oil pump, too. I finally found a hot rod cam to fit the 429 so I'm changing cam bearings
as well even though mine only have 59K on them.
Has your car been sitting for a long time not running? If so I also suggest new valve springs. The ones that have been
compressed for years as the engine sat will be stressed to the point that they may have lost their tension. SOme springs will
have been mashed and some loose. There is no way they will all have the same tension if the car sat for many years like mine has.
A 45 year old car with 59,000 miles on it like mine probably got 75% of the miles in the first 10 years and spent the other 35
years siting around a lot. I'm buying new springs to go with the new cam. New valve seals too while I'm at it.
It never ends.............

@ EZ; I feel you on that one. Name any part from the crank, bearings, cam, its bearings, pistons, rods, lifters....anything and its brand new. Thats why I refuse to slap the old water pump into it. Thanks also for the info and will definately look at the fore mentioned vendors. As fot the heads, they have been redone too with new keepers, springs and valves. The exhaust ports had to be machined and inserts installed due to years of wear and bad gas. If I could figure out how to post pics, you guys are in for a treat. Will keep you posted on updates. Thanks again!!

Posting pictures is easy, so long as they aren't huge in size.
Try to reduce them to something like 75 KB in size.
Bruce.

@ Trevor; at this point I almost want to kick myself for not rebuilding a 350 and just slapping it on there. To put it bluntly; you can almost get any part at your local walmart and walmart price for a 350. A 429 has some real rare parts that you wont or better not re-use most of. To give you an example; price the exhaust and intake valves and you will find one and not the other available. EGGE will custom build you the valves for $26 a piece!! It all comes down to how deep your pockets are really. My short block and both heads minus an oil pan, its gasket and the oil pick up tube, a set of headers...(notice I said minus all these parts...ooooh and fuel pump and lines...) has cost me roughly $2600!! Now again I said depending on how deep your pockets. Tranny is another $2200 by the way. How much you wanna spend is all up to you but be prepared to shop and call parts stores in another state coz these parts wont be at your local one. Hope this helps.

I'll take the 429, and any resultant problems, with the THM transmission over a 350 swap any day. A wise man once posted on this board (or the MoBo, can't recall) "Chevy's are for Fords!"

Guys guys guys; no one is debating that its a good motor. All I am saying (or venting) is that the parts are hard to come by and kinda pricy sometimes so be redy for that aspect. I would like Trevor to get both sides of the coin and understand both aspects of it that way when he gets to the down and dirty of the rebuild, atleast someone did tell him. Trevor I do not mean to scare you away but give you the real deal so unless you have an extra pot of gold, dont expect a rebuild to be ready next week with hard to find parts. And I use the hard to find parts quote loosely just as I said the 350 parts are available at your local neighbourhood Wallyworld.
