WE'RE INTERESTED, WE'RE INTERESTED!!! Grin

Keep posting pictures as you make progress, I love reading build threads.  BTW the welds look killer, like a row of nickels.

Looks like your car is coming along nicely. This coming spring should prove to be an interesting one on the modified brougham scene.

You took a different route with the suspension than I did with my custom frame. Speaking of my custom frame, I haven't been able to upload any pics since my phone doesn't agree with my computer lol.

It sure would be interesting to have the owner of this custom Brougham to join the forum.

Hey! I resemble that remark!! And I'm happy, look at my picture! And amazed at the chassis work and gotta agree with the comment on the welds - beautiful! That's coming from someone who welded on natural gas pipelines for quite a few years. But you just worry about burning through on those welds. Keep the photos coming!

Thanks guys, I do think they did an amazing job on it.

57cadillac- This coming spring? Speak for yourself, I'll be working on this thing for at least a couple years  Grin  I think you mentioned you were doing coilovers? Looking forward to seeing your pics.

While it's obvious I'm not doing an original restoration I do want to keep many of the original features, air suspension being one of them.

I'll update as I make progress, thanks again.    And actually most everyone on the CLC forum and Brougham forum have been really cool. Some don't understand (and I completely respect their point of view) but I wasn't burned at the stake like I thought might happen.

Mario-  I can't decide on a drivetrain.  I would kill for an XV-12 (prototype V12 northstar), but it's not a possibility.

Realistic options are STS-V motor.  Turbo STS-V motor. Or turbo LS variant.

LS may be the route I take as I build/tune them for a living. Not Cadillac specific but they do come in Escalades and CTS-V's!

That frame and suspenseon are unreal.  I saw your black '70 Malibu on the CLC forum and it was amazing. You mentioned having wheels made for the Brougham. Do you have any photos or drawing of what they will be like? I'm asking because I loved how you kept dog dish caps on the Malibu with the twin turbo LS engine.

I wouldn't normally consider this a sensible question, but seeing the abilities shown in your prior project and the Brougham chassis makes me ask: would turbocharging and port or possibly direct injecting a Cadillac 500 derivative be realistic for your cost and power goals?  I know it'd be expensive and difficult, but I bet it'd be strong and very unique.

Regardless which direction you take, I'm excited to watch this car take shape!

Now that I'm done slobbering on my keyboard, I have a couple questions.
Is that a 9 inch Furd rear axle?
What spindles are you using for the front suspension?

Thanks

Aaron, thanks on the Malibu. I don't have a rendering for the wheels yet but they will be nearly exact duplicates of the originals in either 17 or 18in diameter (depending on what I need to clear C6 corvette brakes).

I've thought about a Cad 500. Thing is, I could build a 400ci LS twin turbo that made 800+rwhp, instant boost and around 20mpg. All that and it won't leak a drop of oil.

Not to say you can't get an old engine sealed up pretty good but I doubt it would be 100% leak free like a newer engine.

Gary, yes 9in ford rearend.  Front spindles are C6 corvette. (RS makes their own billet steering arms to drop the rack for more engine clearance.)
