Speach,
If you haven't done so check us out over at http://65-66cadillaccommunity.grou.ps/talks

One of our members has installed a 500 in his '66 Cadillac and I'm sure he would be glad to share
some tips.  He said basically to just move the engine forward 1.25" and it will bolt right in with the
trans and drive shaft not having to be modified.  ALl you would have to do is modify the motor mounts
to accomplish this.  Sounds EZ to me!!

Yeah, he's a nice guy and seems willing to help a brother out.  I thought about using my 500 in my '66 Cadillac but changed my mind once I found a few
hot rod parts for my 429.

Keep us posted on your build!

Use a flat bladed Screw Driver, of reasonable size and the thinner the angle the better, and carefully drive it between the head and the block, say in the front outside corner, and simply use the Screw Driver as a wedge.

This will lift the head, and not damage anything, as there are no damageable parts in this area.

It will just be the Gasket that is holding the head on.

When trying to pry something loose I usually go buy a Chinese or cheaper wood chisel. Gets into tighter spaces and you don't feel bad wrecking the thing. I've used it many times and only finished off one completely. Plus it will scrape gunk nicely, a common practice with old cars.

Thanks. Yea I was scared to pry in between the block and heads. Apparently its not easy to hurt these big chunks of metal. I used a flat head screw driver and it worked great although I bet the chisel would work even better.
