1980 and 1981 368 Carb & Intake Interchange

Can you install a complete intake manifold and all attaching parts from a 1981 into a 1980?
Thanks,
Brian

It may be easier if you fill in the details that you know about this possible swap. We are sort of guessing over on the moboard.
You have a good running 81 DEFI 864 eldo parts car? And your friend has a 80 Seville missing the intake? This must have also been a 368 DEFI, just not the 864? Does it still have the harness and ecu?
Are you sure his car is the 368? Standard engine was the diesel. The CA was a 350 EFI. Maybe its a olds motor? Either someone converting EFI to carb or maybe an incomplete diesel swap? Have you seen the car? Maybe have him check the vin. 5th digit is the engine code. 8 was the CA 350 EFI. 9 was the 368 DEFI. N was the 5.7 diesel. The diesel badges were just on with double side tape so they would be easy to remove. Getting the gas gauge changed would have likely involved swapping the complete instrument cluster.

Ill double check with him, but I'm sure his Seville has the 368 gas engine.
Thanks,

The intake and "carb" (throttle body) should "interchange". The results of functioning are more difficult to say. I have a 80 Seville with 368 and it cracked the exhaust manifolds. I got a set off the 81 and they bolt up but have a port for the exhaust gas sensor which is not used on the 80. I also pulled the "carb" and vac pump off the 81. The 80 uses no vac pump and the "carb" was slightly different as the 81 uses the 4-6-8 as standard. So the computers are different. Wiring harness is different as well.
