Folks
i bought a reproduction battery tray from McVey's. Installation was pretty much straightforward, but I did have to enlarge the hole on the bottom for that mounting screw to work properly. After getting all the bolts started and tightened, I found that the tray bottom is 6 and 1/4 inches (front to back). The old one was 6 and 1/2. I had been using a Group 34 battery that was 6 and 9/16 sitting on a plastic spacer. Fit was snug, but it worked; now its a no-go.
So, would anyone be willing to measure your 1959, 1960 battery tray and let me know what size you have?
And, what battery are you using in that tray (make and group size)?
Thanks

Gary

Gary, I had exactly the same problem with McVey's battery box in my '60 coupe several years ago.  Do not remember anymore what battery I used but it was a very tight fit.  Sorry I can't be of much help other than to feel your pain.

When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Well that just sucks!!  I'd call McVey's and give 'em a piece of my mind.  Nothing worse than a reproduction piece that doesn't fit.  SoapBox
