Car Freak or anyone else that may be able to help..............I have a friend on another forum that needs to know where to find the paint or dye color code and name for the interior of his 1966 Cadillac.  Can anyone point us in the right direction?  He's restoring the interior panels and would like to get the correct color if possible.  If his is anything like mine, every different type of material that was dyed or painted in the interior of the car (dash, door panels, kick panels, arm rests) has aged differently and he now has 3-4 different shades of the same color.

I looked in my 1966 Cadillac repair manual and didn't see it.  I also have a full color Cadillac dealer showroom brochure and it shows all the interior options and upholstery material available but only lists the colors as "gold" or 'light blue" etc.

Thanks in advance!

I'm not aware of a listing with formulas for vinyl dye to match interior colors.
Usually rely on the local paint store experts to match with the best example that can be provided to them.
Perhaps a small portion of seat covering that was tucked behind and not exposed to day light.

Did he see this on the Mobo?    http://www.cadillaclasalleclub.org/forum/index.php?topic=110715.0

No interior color formulas but does indicate name for the various trim codes as found on the Body Tag.

EZ, have your friend look here --- http://paintref.com/cgi-bin/chipdisplay.cgi?year=1966&manuf=GM&smodel=Cadillac&info=&page=15
The interior colors are in the second row.  Maybe he can identify what he has from there and give his paint supplier the correct color to mix, if they still have the formula.  Doubt they can mix dye colors but flex agents can be added to paint to make it more suitable for vinyls using a primer like Dupli-Color's "Adhesion Promoter".  SEM makes an adhesion promoter also.
I just finished "redyeing" a dash top for the Caribou from black to dark red using SEM vinyl "dye" and it came out very well.

When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

A few years back I rebuilt a Hundai rollover. I had to replace the dash and I dyed a blue one grey. Of course the paint store didn't have the formula, but we picked one close (Ford i believe) and tweaked the formula. When I was done it looked oem.
